Applespell CPU Slow Typing

Ever since upgrading to High Sierra, typing has become extremely slow in Safari and Mac Mail. Activity Monitor shows that the process is frequtntly rinning at well over 100% CPU.User uploaded file

I've tried quitting the process, but it immediately restarts. I've als read a number of other posts on the issue including this one: AppleSpell problem with High Sierra

So far none of the recommended solutions have worked. Even typing this now is painfully slow. Please help.

I'm using a Mid 2010 15" Macbook Pro.

I finally seem to have solved the problem. The answer provided at this link did the trick: bug - Messages brings macOS to its knees with soagent and callservicesd - Ask Different

In summary, go to System Preferences>Keyboards>Text and delete any text replacements.

Then go to Library>Spelling and delete the contents.

Immediately solved the problem for me.
