Gentium font will not change to bold in Keynote

Thank you jameson.h for getting back to me with that suggestion.

I have actually been in contact with the font developer. This is his reply to my original explanation of the problem. Basically (and unfortunately) he confirms that you cannot use Gentium and Gentium Plus with "bold" in Keynote:

"I can confirm that this is the case. It appears to be a problem for both Gentium and Gentium Plus. Gentium Basic and Gentium Book Basic are able to be bolded in Keynote. The underlying issue is that there is no genuine bold variant of Gentium or Gentium Plus. When it is bolded by other programs, it is a synthesised bold rather than using an actual bold font. My guess, then, is that Keynote will not synthesis a bold variant of a typeface that lacks an actual bold variant.

So, there doesn't appear to be a good solution to it, as Gentium Basic is lacking the Greek characters. The nearest may be to use Gentium Basic (or Gentium Book Basic) when bold is needed, and Gentium otherwise. Unfortunately, the font metrics are a little different in the two versions of Gentium."

That was a good thought but I tried it and it hasn't made any difference. I'm fairly sure I had already validated the Gentium and Gentium Plus fonts. The strange thing is that bold, italics and underline work with Gentium on multiple applications on my MacBook. It's only bold that won't work with either font in Keynote.
