Making two audio clips compatible

I have two clips, each of which covers a part of an interview of the same person. Both were shot with the same equipment (FZ 300 and Takstar microphone).

The differences between the two clips are probably due to a combination of two issues. First, the clips were shot in different rooms, each with its own "room tone." Second, I suspect (but am not sure) that I turned the Takstar Bass Filter Switch on while shooting one clip but not the other one.

The two clips sound differently. One sounds more "metallic" and has more room noise than the other one. As I connect the two clips, one after the other, the sound changes abruptly, as in a big audio jump.

I do not know how to reduce the abrupt difference between the two clips; i.e. to mitigate the "audio jump."

Any suggestions you may have that can help me make the two audio clips more compatible would be welcomed.

I am a neophyte. I apologize for any lack of technical clarity.
