IMEI Doesn't Match Watch 3 Description

Has anyone else had their IMEI number not match the description of their Apple Watch 3 when trying to add the watch for service on their AT&T account?

I've verified the IMEI 4 times between the iPhone & Apple Watch settings 'about dialog' and, on the box the device came in. AT&T describes it as a Silver Aluminum - Fog Sport but mine is actually a Space Gray Aluminum - Nike Sport. I realize it will probably still activate but I wonder if there's a problem with the Apple sync with AT&T on IMEI numbers and what watches they belong to. That difference might present problems later.

Thanks for any insights.

Hi Chris

Thanks so much for the reply. It's actually on AT&T's system that misidentifies the watch.

It's when you enter the IMEI number for the watch into AT&T's portal for adding a new device for your cell service account. When I enter the IMEI number that I verified on the box, from the watch, and from the iPhone Watch app, the AT&T portal reports back to me that the IMEI number I entered belongs to a similar but different color and style of watch. It's probably not an issue to get cell service working on the watch but, I wonder if there's a database mismatch of IMEI numbers between Apple and AT&T that could cause other issues down the road.
