Writing a letter or message in Dutch

Hello,

I have bought an iMac High Sierra with an Keyboard AZERTY and an iPad pro in 2017. I am Dutch, and I live in France. It is difficult to write a message or email in Dutch . Because the Dutch use a Keyboard QWERTY.

The words are changing into French words and when I press the A, I get the Q.

How can I change that easy. The iPad gives no problem. I can change the language easily.

I hope somebody can help me. Have a nice day, Henri

iMac with Retina 5K display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

Just go to system preferences/keyboard/input sources and make sure the only item on the list is Dutch.

macOS Sierra: Use input sources to type in other languages

To make sure spellcheck is in Dutch, set it that way in system preferences/keyboard/text/spelling and if necessary also in Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Show Spelling and Grammar.

I tried everything< I get this.

thqnk you qnd I still cqn4t find the Wright zqy to change the keyboard<

SorryM m one moment I get the right letters and another moment it gives the letters like the sentence before.

Also we have to write a message in Dutch and the next moment in French.

It gives too many problemes.

I am not an computer expert but I have thee feeling that it must be possible one or another way.

But to change each time from Dutch to French gives znd change the preference-settings is not very efficiënt and cost time.

So, your advice stays very welcome. Hope there is an solution for it.

Do you need to use AZERTY for French and QWERTY for Dutch? To switch keyboards easily, you can use the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen, or the standard keyboard shortcut, Control plus space. Accidentally hitting those keys may cause your keyboard to switch.

Note the keyboard has nothing to do with spellcheck, that is determined by the preference settings I described before.

But there is also no problem writing French with the Dutch keyboard. The accented characters can be made by hold and press of the keys for the base letter, or via option key shortcuts. If you have ONLY Dutch showing in system preferences/keyboard/input source, then there is no way to accidentally switch to AZERTY when you don't want it.
