Download Every Video Purchase Twice?

Hello, I have been purchasing a lot of movies and TV shows on iTunes. I have a Mac Mini running iTunes which is dedicated to running video content to 2 TVs and my kid's laptop.

When I buy a movie, I download it to a hard drive attached to the Mac Mini, to avoid streaming everything and to build playlists (e.g. Marvel Comics Universe in chronological order 😝 ).

I have noticed that *every* purchase I make - whether the movie is new or older - downloads twice.

The initial download after purchase and a second download, after it shows up in iTunes, a few days later, as a duplicate. That is, it displays next to the downloaded version but with the "cloud-download-arrow" icon, as if this is a newer/different version of the movie.

For newer releases (e.g. Black Panther), I could believe that Apple discovers an issue with the video file and fixes something. But older movies do this too (i.e. films that have been out for 10 years, like Incredible Hulk).
