Open Recent is empty - NO option in preferences for # to remember

I've read you can set perfs in Pages for the number of recent docs that can be recalled. My OPEN RECENT shows: Clear Menu - with no docs available.

There is no 'set number of docs to remember' option in preferences. This was just reinstalled on a mac mini.

This is a Numbers for Mac forum. However, as with Pages, you can set the number of Recent items in System Preferences > General.
