Mac (High Sierra) and Ipad keep asking for Facebook Password

A problem that arose a couple of years ago seems to have cropped up again: on my Mac at random times a pop-up appears that asks for Facebook password. When I re-enter it accepts but the question will randomly re-appear. I can access FB just fine in my Browser. Happened on a different Mac too. On Ipad it only happened once. How do I solve this?

So with help from Apple Support, the only way to get rid of the random pop-up window asking for my FB password was to delete the FB App from Settings - Internet account and just use FB from Browser like Chrome, which I was doing anyway. Did not even realize there was a separate FB App on my Mac. Took a while of all kinds of trials and errors to just do the simple thing!
