SSD and Partitions

Hey y'all

I have gotten a new SSD for me this week. Since I am replacing the one I have on Mac for the new one, I decided to create a partition on it with the purpose of installing Windows. But some problems happened and I am not finding a solution that works:

- I had to initialize de new disk in order to install High Sierra. When trying to install de OS, I created 2 partitions: Mac and Win. The installation failed and now I can't restore or resize into a single drive. The partition is neither showing up on disk utility nor on terminal command line 'diskutil list'.

So, I don't know how to fix this in order to resize into a single one and then installing the High Sierra (without creating a partition).

Yes, I formatted the disk properly.

For a reason I still don't know, the SSD only shows 159.73GB and not 250GB. The first imagem shows that on the upper right corner, but when I hit "Partition", the screen shows the 2 volumes on the SSD (Mac and Free Space partitions) (second image). However, the operation doesn't succeed (third image).

Don't format a partition for Windows. Follow the instructions for using Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows. The instructions include how to and when to create the Windows partition. Boot Camp - Apple Support

When Disk Utility says "free space", it means space on the drive that has not yet been partitioned with a defined Volume-type.

According you your diagram, you have successfully carved out about 160GB of MacOS volume named Mac, and have about 90GB uncommitted, labeled "Free space".

Free space, in the sense of space not occupied by files, is something Disk Utility does not concern itself with.

You are working WAY too hard at this. To create a partition for Windows, you use Boot Camp Assistant. It will reduce the size of your macOS volume and create all the partitioning information needed by Windows (which is completely different from what MacOS uses.

WARNING: Do not EVER use any Windows-native disk Utilities that modify any attributes of Partitions or Volumes. They will erase your drive completely.
