Opening an .itdb file

I'm trying to open an iTunes file with an .itdb extension, but when I click on the file, a dialog box opens and indicates "There is no application set to open the document "iTunes Library Extras.itdb"". I'm then directed to download other applications that do not seem to be related at all to the iTunes environment. Is there a straightforward way that this file can be opened in iTunes?

No. The two .itdb files are support files for the .itl. They're not meant to be opened independently. Either will be recreated if missing when the corresponding .itl file is accessed. See also About iTunes library files - Apple Support.
