There is no luck after with new battery replacement as the battery drains same way. in addition to this now a new problem cropped up, phone is in headphone mode without even using a headphone..tried all the possible fixes shown on the internet but not successful, really feel like disgusting at the moment as final suggestion is to visit a apple service store once again. Apple what the **** is happening with your phones !!
Solution is there and quite obvious but Apple will not resort to it. I have a feeling they are always in God mode - We don't make any mistakes - EVER !!!
Just reissue the earlier working version renumbering it as 12.0.0 .
Still the same problem with battery drain after 11.4 and 11.4.1. As always charged all night and was 100% this morning. After 1 hour (I didn't plug in after moving the phone) it is at 55%. I also didn't put in Low Battery Mode. Battery Health is at 87%.
Apple: Is this supposed to be acceptable? How would you like a 6S if it performed like this?
I keep hoping for a fix and can still use it as I have a charger located everywhere, cars, basement, living room, bedroom, etc. If I get to a point where I absolutely need a wireless phone I will NOT buy another Apple product. iPad mini and wife's phone with never be updated again.
I did pay to them for the battery replacement INR2000. Now battery health shows 100% but it drains as it is. I spoke to a friend who got his battery replaced recently on his 6 and while replacing the battery apple service guys take a confirmation from us that they are not responsible if something goes wrong while changing to new battery, so thats it while changing they messed up with the speaker it seems. No I am really not thinking to go to apple authorise service guys anymore instead i will go to a local super boy who repair any phone in the world just like that and get it fixed of the problem with spending few bucks.
Yesterday I plugged in my 10y old plugin earphones (instead of the brand new BT ones). I switched to airplane mode and made sure realy all is plugged of. I started amazon music app while cycling for 5h. Surprised to see my battery was still at 96%.
On another day with BT it was empty after 45minutes š.
As Genius bar wanted to see money for battery replacement even I have in the chat protocol its for free, I am not to spent more money. Knowing the battery is not the root cause. However standard procedure ā replacement of battery.
@sven_frankfurt - Just curious whether that new "high-performance" battery resolved the excessive battery drain. My new phone with iOS 10.3.3 worked fine; it was an (unintended) "upgrade" to iOS 11.4.1 that's *decimated* the battery. It was INSTANTLY.
Like yours, mine loses half its life sitting doing nothing. (BTW, after many tests & tweakings, I've discovered that along with disabling every conceivable option, the only way to somewhat slow -- but not eradicate -- the excessive battery drain is to have the phone on Airplane Mode and Low Battery all day. Make you question why have an iPhone? Sure does!
@marcinfrombydgoszcz - laughing & crying at same time. Here's what I do to preserve some battery power through a day after accidental install of iOS 11.4.1:
1. Airplane Mode: On
2. Wi-Fi: Off
3. Cellular: Off
4. Low Power Mode: On
Then only when I must check for emails, texts or go online via provider or Wi-Fi do I switch on the appropriate slider. So I'm on and off controls all day. A giant PITA. But the only method to still have a little battery juice by day's end. Be it via car charger, outlet or power pack, I also charge every chance I get through the day.
My phone's just a year old. Was running great on iOS 10.3.3. Then 11 came along. Battery drainage was immediate and extraordinary. This diehard Apple loyalist for 25 years is looking to jump ship. So sad.
@Zide99 - To your question, no, nothing got turned on with iOS 11.4. It's a software issue. The battery's taking the hit. Rest assured that your experience is most common. I'm iPhone-savvy, have tweaked and/or turned off every conceivable setting, still suffered incredible drain and in the 11th hour can only share what works, kinda sorta as a Band-Aid solution:
1. Airplane Mode: On
2. Wi-Fi: Off
3. Cellular: Off
4. Low Power: On
You read right. These turn off phone functionalites BUT slows the excessive battery drain. Only when I want or need to use the phone do I switch on the appropriate function. Then, task completed, off it goes. This mode of battery "preservation" is one giant PITA, yes.
A lesser-PITA alternative is to set the settings as above EXCEPT keep Airplane Mode: Off. One less function to switch on and off through the day.
Also to stem excessive drainage, I use every power source available through the day -- car charger, outlet, power pack. Some 25 years I've been with Apple and never seen anything as insulting and disregarding to its customers as iOS 11. Truly. My phone's only a year old and I'm already looking outside for a replacement. Sad.
@leemarshall22 - My troubleshooting/experience is that while it is most certainly a software (and not battery) problem, it is not location services. iOS 11 is so hole-y (as opposed to holy), if I were Tim Cook I'd be instructing my teams to *fix the problems* rather than roll out exciting new features. (But that's just one characteristic that separates me from him.) A lotta folks are waiting to see what happens with iOS 12 and will jump ship accordingly. 2018 4th-quarter could be very painful for Apple.
@docsair - Your experience is identical to mine save that my update from 10.3.3 to 11.4 was entirely unintended, undesired and immediately revealed to be the biggest disaster in my 25 years with Apple. iOS 10.3.3. was/is so superior to v.11, a product that was once a joy to use is now an irrevocable thorn in the side and hardly worth having. Like yours, my phone needs to be charged a few times a day to maintain simple functionality. However, forced by iOS 11.4.1., I've taken "power preservation" to an extreme level. In addition to having every conceivable setting powered off, check out these employed through the day:
1. Airplane Mode: On
2. Wi-Fi: Off
3. Cellular: Off
4. Low Power: On
Yes, these disable functionality; only when I want/need to use the phone do I switch on the appropriate setting, then back off it goes. Major pain. Why, it's like not having a phone at all! Such is iOS 11.
1. I was trying to fix my phone this morning and i did many many things..and trying to hear music put remove the headphone jack several times..cleaning it..suddenly the phone switched back to volume mode from headphone modeš
so imagine whats happening with the phone.
2. After reading all i found one great solution to get out of this battery issue is to keep the phone in aeroplane mode all the time and switch to normal mode only when you want to call someoneš all the best guys. right now really enjoying my other new phone nokia 7 plus..which gives me 2 days of back up with moderate to heavy use..thanks hmd global
Disabling wifi (via settings) seems to reduce the battery drain on a 6s. I've got a new battery and it is ridiculous Apple doesn't acknowledge this bug. The drain was very noticeable when recording video, when I was recording 1080p@60fps, the battery drained in a few minutes from ~30/40% to empty.
@kaceel - In addition to disabling Wi-Fi, I've disabled every function, including Cellular and, of course, Location Services; Low Power Mode also always on. I also keep the phone on Airplane Mode, the biggest "disabler" of all, until I need to check texts, emails or go online -- and only then do I turn on ONLY the relevant function before again disabling it. Basically by disabling the entire phone, battery drain is slowed, but not eliminated.
@kaceel - Precisely. Yet what good is a phone that's fast rendered useless due to excessive battery drain? My approach, at least, enables functionality (albeit highly-measured) through the day; the second option does not. Which is the lesser poison? Again, none of these problems existed pre-iOS 11.4.1. There's a definite segment of iOS 11-iPhone users who depend on their iphones for work and are jumping ship for the dramatic drain. I feel their pain and do not blame them.
@afromprescott - yeah i use my phone for work more and for personal use too. its a pain of spending INR 50000 or USD740 just a year back and phones battery let you down very badly and you need to carry a good powerbank all the time with you. its disgusting situation for sure. Definitely its not an exaggeration by anyone posting over here
