Safari home page setting hacked

When I opened Safari, it went to a new homepage. It looks like a ripoff of Google and is a search page simply called "search." It won't let me set the home page back the way I had it.

If the problem is still persistent after all the steps above, go to system preferences > profiles and if there are profiles that you did not install select the minus ( - ) button to delete the profile. I did this and everything was finally deleted. Restart your computer and then the search engines will be restored and the browsers will be restored. I recommend clearing all history as well.

Adware/Malware

1. Remove any Profile you have not installed knowingly.

Profiles

System Preferences > Profiles

Launch System Preferences. Do you see any profiles added to the pane at the bottom next to Accessibility?

If this doesn't help, please run and post a diagnostic report.

Run EtreCheck and post the report here.

https://etrecheck.com

Click “Free Download” button, open Downloads folder, click on it to open, and then select ”Open”.

Click on the bouncing EtreCheck icon in the Dock.

“Choose a problem” from the popup menu box, and then “Start EtreCheck” in the dialog.

Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” .

Paste it into the reply.
