This is another discussion ongoing with similar issue on Toyota Handsfree systems, although would assume it can happen for other manufacturers as well.

Not sure there is a total “fix” yet, but looks like playing around with volume levels might mitigate (ie turn fully up on device then control desired level via the incar system), it might also pay to spend a little time looking at the various settings (if not already done) both on the car and the phone to see if any exist for Handsfree adjustment.

ps. Forgot to say, you could try the device in another cars (manufactures) system, if it works ok then go back to Toyato, if it’s the same try contacting Apple Support, you should be ok if the issue is on the back of a recent update!

This is just my view, but if the phone works (ie no echo) in both the Toyota Truck (2012) and the Audi A7 (2017) but not the newer Toyota Tundra (2018), then I would say it probably points to a problem in the Tundra.

Have you tried going into the Tundra’s setting to delete or unpair said iPhone, then re-pair again - if after playing around with all the settings you still have the issue there isn’t much else other than take the problem back to Toyota.

Last thought, has anyone else tried there phone in the Tundra? From experience if you can get as much proof as possible it sometimes helps “forcing” manufacturers hands in cases like this.
