Have done that reset in the past to fix a bug in iOS 9. It didn’t work then. And no, didn’t lose a thing. Since it seems to be which band of WiFi I am on (no odd drain using 2.4 ghz band) I did reset Network Settings. I was hopeful but no. Even the iPhone X seems to be affected so I must be hopeful a fix is in the works.

My family uses android and all you do is pluck out that memory card and pop it in a new phone and nothing is lost. It’s like a reset all settings. Sigh. This one is a real problem.

Truly glad yours has recovered.

Resetting the network settings will change the phone name and clear all network settings!

Great, solves nothing, identifies nothing! It is the shotgun approach.

i have stated before that all texts and messages are now automatically backed up to the cloud, including images.

everyone with this problem needs to segment their phones networking into wifi, Bluetooth apps and usage.

i know that the problem with my SE is Bluetooth and Carplay/hands free. I just turn off Bluetooth especially after using my car. If I dont, I can guarantee that I will have a flat battery in the morning. Now, when I go to bed, my phone is charged to 100%, in the morning it is 99%.

You should not lose any app data by doing a network reset!

I think that you should look at everything that the phone is used for!

Apart from Minecraft, is the phone using only wifi, is it using Bluetooth? ( Headset ) etc

Is mobile data on or off, are you backing up to the cloud? Too many questions to ask you....

I would suggest that you avoid doing any resets or rebuilds until you know what you are doing with the phone!

Mine is related to WiFi. And a poster earlier in this thread fixed his by using 2.4 Ghz WiFi. Which worked for me.

I do, thank you, know how to use my phone. Had them for years. No I don’t have messages to the cloud. Never have. Never will. Of course I back it up. But those questions are moot as my battery is WiFi related. Or. How it is interacting with the 5ghz band. And temporarily solved.

Have a great day.

Pinkapplemac - you should be able to use iCloud backup to backup all gaming data from your games that support it. For gaming companies that don't support backing up the game settings - they are kept with the gaming companies servers. You can contact them and let them know you are doing a data reset on the phone and they can reconnect your son's phone with the game data on the gaming site, after the restore. Usually they will ask for a screen shot of the game and your SN / IMEI number of your phone, and the player's email address and handle. I've had to do this numerous times over the last 8 years as most of my kid's games settings are stored on the gaming companies hosts.

Also - be weary of iTunes backups - don't trust them - there's no way to verify integrity of backups until you try and restore. iCloud backup is more reliable. In my case iCloud backup was not working because of other issues - I've had this iPhone 6s Plus for almost 4 years - its been through dozens of iOS upgrades, and over the years. In my case I used a third party utility to get all my photos and videos off the phone.

FYi I tried all the suggestions relating to 2.4 wifi and it didn't work for me.

Officially there is NOT going to be any bug fix for this - Apple's corporate policy is that if you reset your device to factory settings and it solves the problem - there's no bug to fix. This came directly from the Genius Bar at my local Apple store.

I agree - this is sad! iOS 11.4 was released May 29 and the battery drain issue seems to be quite widespread and no fix yet! Apple would know for sure the EXACT percentage of iPhones this is affecting given that most people opt to share their diagnostics information with Apple. "Arrogance" seems to be the correct word. I'm sticking with Apple for my phone though - I like how iTunes syncs across all devices.

Not only does my battery drain like a faucet’s on, but my tablet runs MUCH hotter and recharges more slowly. I’ve turned off everything I can find, and no joy. Had absolutely zero issue before the update - was 100% before I fell asleep, like every night, but the morning after the upgrade - was completely drained, had to charge forever to even power on. just using Overdrive to read a book drains it noticeably in an hour. Please fix this!

This response is to everyone with the problem!

I found that my phone had been draining to 13% or thereabouts over the last 3 days from 100% and had been stable for a week or so since I disabled Bluetooth and removed my car from Carplay settings etc.

I used my car 3 days ago and the next day and this morning has reflected the fact that every time that I use my car, my battery is flat the next morning.

I have tried to tell people to look at the way that they are using their phones and was convinced that the problem was with Bluetooth and Carplay (in my case) and it's associated apps such as audio! I was dumb founded to find that the problem is Carplay audio, but it is with both Bluetooth and USB, so any connection between the phone and CarPlay is flattening my battery everytime that I use my car because, once connected to the car, it won't stop looking for it!

My battery usage over the period has also told me that 93% of my battery usage is AUDIO and I don't play audio from my phone. There are no indications of background apps open either so how the **** are we to rectify this issue?

There has been many reports of flat batteries and CarPlay going back 2-3 years with no answer! Seems like 11.4 exacerbated the issue but don't forget that messages to the cloud was implemented in 11.4 so for those that text and mms a lot are having their batteries flattened by ALL of their messages being uploaded to the cloud! You can disable this function in your iCloud settings.

Please check your Battery usage reports!

I hope this report helps some of you with this issue!

In addition, I am on the beta test team and use my iPad. It is running IOS12.0 beta 2 without any issues but it doesn't go near my car!

My wife's iPad was on 11.4 and have upgraded to 11.4.1. She had no issues with 11.4.

My phone is a 5SE.
