iTunes randomly opening and playing media

Hi,

iTunes version 12.7.5.9 opens and plays songs without my opening of the software. My computer is running MacOS High Sierra. Not on wifi when this happens. Opens and it will not close for more than a couple of seconds. I close and quit iTunes but it continues like it has a mission to drive me batty. So I just leave it open on pause. This just became an issue today. No updates have since May 30th, 2018 (iTunes update). I have unchecked every box and option in the preferences.

I hope someone has a fix.

Thanks!

Hi,

An update. After 4 hours of serenity and my iTunes not opening until late in the day, it now will not close for more than one second. As far as installing a new iTunes, I get this message from the OS : “iTunes.app” can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by macOS."

So I downloaded the latest version from Apple and can't install unless iTunes is closed. Well, with my fingers on the command+Q keys I was able to keep the program at bay long enough to click the install button on the install software.

Installed, however, the problem remains.

I don't know what to do. My iTunes is now part of my desktop now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
