Someone gave me their erased iMac. I am
Trying to reinstall El Capitan, after signing in with my Apple ID, it says that it is temporarily unavailable. I can not get the “about this Mac” screen to get detail of the device either.
Do you know if the original owner prepared the iMac per the directions in What to do before you sell or give away your Mac - Apple Support ? If not then they need to follow those directions. Then you can restart in the Recovery Partition and install Mac OS.
