Hacked iPhone 7

Hello,

I have an iPhone 7 with the iOS version 11.2.6.

I connected the iPhone to my home wireless and plugged the charger in it. I went to sleep and woke up 4 hours later.

When I checked my iPhone it had the white screen with "Hello" written on it, as it normally appears when you first start-up the phone or after an update. I checked my version and it was the same 11.2.6. No iOS update. The only update was the 11.4 that was already downloaded 2 weeks ago and I haven't installed it or post-pone the installation.

What happened? Is it possible that I was hacked somehow?

The one thing I did on the same day before I went to sleep and this issue occurred, was to Activate the "Find My iPhone" app on this device, thus enabling location services, and I used it to erase all the content from my iPhone 6 which I lost 3 weeks ago.

Please help me. I am frightened someone might steal all my private data from my iPhone.

I understand what you wrote. In my response everything you describe was you erased your 7 and not the 6. While that was not the intent of what you wanted to do that is a more likely explanation than the phone being hacked.

If you call apple with the IMEI for both devices they may be able to confirm, as well you should have been sent an email for any account activity.

if you log into icloud.com web site > find my phone> all devices> do you see both or just 1?

since the site does not list them as iphone 7 or iphone 6.. just the name of the phone.. "Bob's iPhone" it is remarkably common to erase the wrong one.

If you are certain this is not your issue, i would back the phone up to iTunes and restore it to factory setting (and update) to remove anything you dont want.

If your iOS device is not jailbroken there is no way to hack it. The tools available for developers from Apple to write software for iOS devices do not contain routines that could be used to override securities on the device, and software to use on the device is only available from the App store which is maintained by Apple.

Enabling find my phone is not making your phone susceptible to data breaches.

If I had to guess you download the update, postponed it and the device updated at the end of that postponement.

If you have any concerns otherwise regarding your devices security at this time you can reset your device to the factory defaults.

I used my iPhone 7, to erase everything from my lost iPhone. I know what I erased, if I erased my current phone I would not have been able to use it afterwards and all my apps, photos etc. would not have been there, correct? I did this a few hours before going to sleep. I set up my alarm for the next morning to go to work. I woke up in the middle of the night and checked my iPhone and the white screen with “Hello” on it had appeared. There was no iOS update as it had the same version. What do you think the reason behind this is? Can someone hack the iPhone through Wi-Fi?

My phone was locked. So its weird if it just crashed all of a sudden. I’m not a criminal or anything like that, but is it possible to be hacked by police or government, just so they always know where people are? I know this sounds like a conspiracy but in my country there is a lot of corruption and it’s something that could happen since my parents are somehow known public figures.

For instance, my iPhone 6 had the same problem a year ago..and I had an issue and got it to a service(as my warranty expired). When I got it back, on a black background I could see a small red spot on the screen. Afterwards whenever I called someone the buttons were pushing by themselves, either muting the conversation or putting it on hold. Is this a case in which someone hacked the phone?
