apple music not downloading on android

I struggled with this issue for weeks. Today, I went into the app's info screen and it turned out that the storage permission was not enabled so I enabled it and rebooted the phone (Clearing the app from recents screen did not work). This fixed the problem.

It never occurred to me to check the permissions because the app is supposed to request for the necessary permissions and considering music downloads was working before.

This fixed it for me , only after I had wiped all previous download. Go to settings, apps and notifications, music, permissions, enable storage.

Try manually granting permissions and disabling battery optimisation for Apple Music(search battery optimisation in settings, this will let the app download while the screen is off) and also disable Samsung's own battery optimisation, IMO, it does more harm than good( settings, battery, tap 3 dots in the corner,settings-see screenshot). If you don't have any downloaded music, clear data or uninstall /reinstall app, and if you have downnloaded music and don't want to lose it, just clear the app's cache and try a reboot in both cases. Apps & Notifications > Apple Music > Storage > Press "Clear Data" and "Clear Cache".

Sign back into the app and download the songs.

I've had the same issue with my Note 8. I could not download any of my music in my SD card. So I tried downloading the music to the phone's memory and everything was downloaded perfectly. Go figure!. Maybe this will help someone

I had to go back and download Apple Music 2.3 instead of 2.6 I've been using 2.3 for 2 days and it's back flawless!!! Hope this helps and here is the link with the different versions!!!!

I can confirm this. For me it removed the permission and after enabling it again and restarting the device it now works again.

I downloaded the 2.7 beta apk and all I did was installing it, I mean no wipe or fresh install ( had many songs downloaded from when I was on Oreo so didn't wanna lose it ) and it worked, I can now download songs without any hassle.

Downloading the 2.7 beta from apk mirror seems to fix the problem, no need to wipe anything just download and install.

Worked for me on Note 9 with Android Pie 9.0

Head to app permissions and enable storage permissions.clear the cache and reboot your device .

I honestly don't know then. Once you've Cleared the Cache and Data just try logging in and signing out. I got to download like the 100 odd songs in my library after doing it.

I didn't think that I updated my app to but my phone automatically updates my apps so maybe that's what happened. Otherwise make sure your storage permission is set on. if everything is correct and you clear the cache then go on and restart your phone and see if that works that's all the help I can give you.

I am also starting to wonder. I am running on a custom rom based on pie and at first my library was downloaded successfully but 13 songs were excluded. I tried everything mentioned above but none of that worked. So I cleared data and set the app up again and now none of the songs are downloading now. Any suggestions?

Yeah on the latest version of Android Pie on a Original Pixel XL and my music refuses to download via 4G or Wi-Fi. Please, like people pay for this service. Spotify works perfect on Pie not long gave the trial up. I'd rather pay for Spotify if ***** like this happens.

Btw Apple Music worked fine on Android 8.
