apple music not downloading on android

I struggled with this issue for weeks. Today, I went into the app's info screen and it turned out that the storage permission was not enabled so I enabled it and rebooted the phone (Clearing the app from recents screen did not work). This fixed the problem.

It never occurred to me to check the permissions because the app is supposed to request for the necessary permissions and considering music downloads was working before.

This fixed it for me , only after I had wiped all previous download. Go to settings, apps and notifications, music, permissions, enable storage.

Try manually granting permissions and disabling battery optimisation for Apple Music(search battery optimisation in settings, this will let the app download while the screen is off) and also disable Samsung's own battery optimisation, IMO, it does more harm than good( settings, battery, tap 3 dots in the corner,settings-see screenshot). If you don't have any downloaded music, clear data or uninstall /reinstall app, and if you have downnloaded music and don't want to lose it, just clear the app's cache and try a reboot in both cases. You can begin by cancelling any pending downloads in the Apple Music app, rebooting your device, then attempting to download the playlists, albums, or video content you'd like to save for offline playback later.

Head to app permissions and enable storage permissions.clear the cache and reboot your device .

It Actually works.

I didn't think that I updated my app to but my phone automatically updates my apps so maybe that's what happened. Otherwise make sure your storage permission is set on. if everything is correct and you clear the cache then go on and restart your phone and see if that works that's all the help I can give you.

Don5 delete previous downloads, bad advice from previous post

The first thing to check is Wi-Fi/ Cellular Data are turned on. Settings > Music > Cellular Data, and check two things:

• Tap Wireless Data to see if Apple Music is allowed to use mobile data.

• See if you turn on Downloads to permit Apple Music download songs on mobile data.

• Double-click the Home button.

• Find Apple Music.

• Slide it up to close it.

Then tap Apple Music on the Home Page to restart it. Now run Apple Music.

I can download music via Apple Music but I am unable to play music. when i hit play it just does nothing. Same thing when I try to stream music. I verified all my app settings are correct. Using a Note 9.

I have a Samsung S9+ and I've recently upgraded to Android Pie and on Apple Music I can't no longer download songs. It was working fine on Android Lollypop. I've tried doing what you said but its still not working.

Streaming works fine but I just can't download anything. The download process remain stagnant.

Hello its working now. But what weird is that I've tried those settings before and it didn't worked. I didn't restarted my phone before so I guess that's why it didn't worked. But after doing those settings and restarting it thank God it works.

Since yesterday downloading music no longer works, says downloading but nothing happens... i had done no update on the operating system nor the app, all permissions set, cleared system/ app cache, disabled battery optimisation...very frustrating.

S9 plus G965 on 9.0.

Still does not work for me.

Ever since android deployed Android Pie it does not download, just spins around. So frustrating. I tried what you suggested shutdown my phone and restarted. I thought there may have been an update in the App Store for a new version of Apple music, but there is not. Still does not download.

I've had the same issue with my Note 8. I could not download any of my music in my SD card. So I tried downloading the music to the phone's memory and everything was downloaded perfectly. Go figure!. Maybe this will help someone

I am also starting to wonder. I am running on a custom rom based on pie and at first my library was downloaded successfully but 13 songs were excluded. I tried everything mentioned above but none of that worked. So I cleared data and set the app up again and now none of the songs are downloading now. Any suggestions?
