What software update is needed to connect to iPhone 7?

Today, when I tried syncing my iPhone and iPad, I got a prompt to update software.

But every time I told it to install, this error appears:

User uploaded file

It doesn't say if my Mac needs it or my devices, but there was a MacOS 10.13.6 update waiting, so I installed it.

As for the update in the dialog failing, it seems to be saying the update Apple is demanding I install to sync my devices is not on the update server. It happened before and after the 10.13.6 update and with both my phone and my iPad. iTunes doesn't even see them.

Now what?

Thanks. Rob

You need to update iTunes to the current version. If you have problems doing it through the app store, download it directly to your Mac from iTunes.com and install it from there.

She made me update everything and get Mojave even though I did not want it. My brand new iphone XR still giving me issues, Apple has no real solution for this BS message, it is ALWAYS something with Apple and Itunes. I swear everytime something works great they turn around and f%*@#( it up again!!! FIX IT APPLE !!!! I do not have time to sit on the phone for 1 hour to get nowhere!!!!!
