IPhone 6 Plus

Hello, just to verify that I to updated to 11.4.1 and was faced with exactly the same WiFi problem. After trying advisory fixes which didn’t work (e.g. clearing network settings) I tried a re-install of the update via iTunes but to no avail. Finally I have now downgraded back to iOS 11.4. On iTunes Which has now fixed the problem.

Let’s hope bugs will be fixed in the next update.

I have the very same issues iOS 11.4.1 WiFi drops turning off wifi and on again is a temporary fix. I have attempted.

1: reset network on iPhone 6 x3 times

2: reset router x3 times

3: connected to routers WiFi 5g and 2g version

4: upgrade routers firmware

5: done a full erase of iPhone and set up as new phone.

6: followed community comments and fixes

7: installed new battery from Apple shop

Nothing has changed my WiFi still drops it’s the iOS programming software not my phone.

The only positive thing that came out of all this after resetting my phone the beta battery health is working again :).

Apple needs to sort it out or they will lose customers to rivals who at least acknowledge their updates have bugs and they are being addressed.

Ps. To upload this post I had to turn WiFi off due to it hanging :(

Had issue a while back that my Network kept going down, in the end it was an problem with the 5Ghz wireless element, it wasn’t good enough to just switch over to 2.4Ghz (more than likely due to interference between the two bands), I had to also turn off the 5Ghz section entirely under the router settings.

Another area that may cause issue is if the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands have the same name, it’s usually a good idea to make them different, for example Netgear1234-2g and Netgear1234-5g.

Worth noting is when I switched to a router provided by TalkTalk I didn’t experience the same loss of signal issue, even leaving to two wireless sections enabled, so my conclusion was it appeared specific to that particular bit of Netgear equipment.

Talked to apple support yesterday, they make me do some test, then they told me to run a diagnostic in Settings > Privacy > Analytics and tap "Start Diagnostics With Apple Support.".. They told me that everything came back OK with the diagnostic, so the issue doesn't appear to be hardware related.

Finally they asked me to de a complete restore and reinstall ios 11.4.1 .. but didnt work either.. seems like an iOS bug they dont want to fix..

Has anyone received an email from Apple from: Apple WiFi Engineering Feedback Response?

Yes, also received mail, think it was from "wi-fi@apple.com", didn't respond manly because I suspected it could of been phishing mail, no name to contact, case number wasn't any I recognised under Bug Reporter and Apple have never contacted me like that before, I had always started the process.

Although all the instructions looked "official" for the "config file" installation (but then again anyone could research that info from the web) I didn't like taking the risk because you are giving something you are not certain of it's origin direct access to your OS.

Lastly, I've only contributed once to this discussion and that was to say I had the issue a while back but since switching to a different router all was now fine, so what would be the point in asking for logs from a device working as expected, anyone in there dept could provide those I would of thought.

I would say it’s definitely an Apple problem as everyone‘s device was working before the update was applied, dual band router or not.

I recevied the email also and I’m going to try and send them the data.

At least now there does seem to be an interest from Apple of the issue they’ve created.

I will also reply to email I have from senior advisor I spoke to the other evening and try and arrange another call back from him. It’s an exhausting process going through various attempts to fix this but I want this sorted as we have 3 devices affected by this update.

Yeah , I received the same email.

I'm not about to install 11.4.1 again just to prove an issue , as it messes everything up again!

And doing as they ask under 11.4 will prove nothing.

The person writing the email is obviously not English as the grammar is all over the place and this adds to the uncertainty for me.

I've emailed apple support asking for confirmation of its authenticity.

I have this problem too. iPhone 6s. Happened when updated to 11.4.1. Now wifi keeps dropping regardless of where I connect. It is therefore not a problem with my internet, it is a problem with the update. The only way to use wifi is by switching the wifi on and off and then I only get a very short time for it to work. Have tried it in many locations and always same result. Please fix this as soon as possible, really not acceptable

Just a thought and a little off topic but might be useful nevertheless, could you request while communicating with John Arvie that he gets someone in Apple to update us on how they usually make contact when requesting information of this nature and what we should be looking out for, similar to Banks telling us not to click links or phone enclosed numbers etc.

The reason I ask is that when comparing this phishing mail to a few legitimate ones I’ve received in the past it looks very similar, frighteningly good in fact, and the only way I would suspect it’s not “official” is that the request didn’t also appear in the Bug Report Site or the process wasn’t instigated by me by opening a case, something the average person might not be aware of.

If you manage to get a reply, and I would like to think you will because the use of a config file makes this high risk in my book, could you please post.

Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same issues, i've tried re-setting my hub, my network connections, nothing makes a difference, it was working fine until the 11.4.1 update now i struggle to connect to facebook, ebay etc, messenger images buffer for several minutes, it's very frustrating. All other devices connected to wifi are working fine, just my phone and now my son's since he too has updated to 11.4.1

Contacted apple support, they told me the mail from wi-fi@apple.com was fake.

We understand how concerning it is when you receive an email such as this, and we're happy to help. This does appear to be a phishing attempt. We'd recommend reporting the e-mail, don't click on any links or attachments and either delete or move the message to your Junk folder.

If you'd like information for reporting these kinds of e-mails, you can find it here
