MacBook Pro (2018) Audio on videos cuts out randomly

Same issue, MacOS Mojave 10.14.2, MacBook Pro 15-inch 2018, ...

Main use of my macbook is for producing music (with Ableton live) and playing live, so a cut in audio is not a possibility!

I found a workaround: turn off the Wifi. When Wifi is turned off, I never experience audio cuts. This works for playing live, as I don't need network access in this case. But it's definitively not a solution in most normal cases!

Don't know if this will help anyone or if it's the same issue. After a period of sleep video (many sources and if one isn't working the rest aren't working) and audio (iTunes) won't stream. Video looks like it's buffering and I get a message that if the video doesn't start to play restart your machine. After a restart all works well. I've searched and found someone indicating audio out will sometimes lock and when it locks videos won't play. This advice was specific to speakers using USB interface, but I don't know if it happens to other output. I happen to have speakers connected via USB. So after sleep I get buffering, as soon as I change the output video starts without restart. I've not figured out how to stop this behavior, but I can at least jump into preferences and get going again without a restart. I know this is an old thread. Don't know if this is the problem for most of you, but something that's easy to try.

Does it ever happen if not using Safari as a browser, say with Firefox, Waterfox?

I have this same issue, sometimes Chrome garbles the audio on mp4s, youtube and soundcloud. Restarting the macbook works.

Disabled Siri, issue still happens when playing video from Netflix and Youtube. Tried on Chrome and Safari both with using the built in Macbook Pro speakers. I'd also like to mention that my speakers do pop from time to time and when they do, the issue occurs then.

Unfortunately I have a similar issue with my 2018 MacBook Pro 15". was just watching Netflix via Safari and the audio will cut out about once every 10-15 mins.

Not sure what to do about it, I purchased my Laptop brand new from very.co.uk.

im on a mbp late 2013 and this problem started 3weeks ago and i dont know what to do ...

when im searching for new music on the net it ramdomly dropout sometimes 5min sometimes 20-30

and i gotta reboot for the sound to come back?

im using firefox as a browser

it does it listening to music from the mbp itself too and using a external usb soundcard samething

I got the 15 inch (i9, 32GB RAM, 1 TB SSD)one and having the same problem.

Done some basic testing and these are my findings:

1. It's not specific to any browser (Tested on Safari and Chrome, in safari the video stops for a second and then returns but the sound takes a few seconds more and comes back as well. In chrome though if the video stopped once it won't resume!! refreshing the page also won't help! need to open a totally new tap for it to work properly again).

2. It's not browser specific (Same problem happens on Quicktime as well).

3. Tested with iTunes (audio only) and it still happens. It's more subtle but is still there.

4. It happens on both Mojave and high Sierra.

I tried to reset the audio system by doing:

1. reseting coreAudio by typing: "sudo killall coreaudiod" in terminal

2. Reset PRAM & SMC

Didn't fix anything though ....

If anyone has any input

I’ve filed a case with Apple support and trying to figure out the root of the problem. I also have scheduled an appointment with the Geuniess bar to check for any hardware problems that didn’t come up with system hardware diagnostic tool! I’ll update as soon as I get any new information

I also have this issue! (Low frame rate on the account icons at log in) in addition to the sound problem.

This happens to me, but I have the new MacBook Air! This is really frustrating because I use this work, and we often do video conferences via Google Hangouts. Really hoping there's a fix soon.

Description:

Audio cuts out sometimes during videos, while the video continues. Happens every 20 mins or so, and the audio seems to come back after 15ish seconds if I let the video continue playing silently.

Quick fix:

Rewind the video back to where the audio cut out (using the left arrow key).

Has anyone else experienced this on other browsers?

Also, while adding the underlines on the headings above, the Touch Bar began to flicker uncontrollably. Lots of bugs!
