iTunes 12.8.0.150 has crashed! Windows 10

A while ago I had iTunes working perfectly on my PC with Windows 10. Now all of a sudden I keep getting this error.

Everything did work as I had iTunes and iCloud working before.User uploaded file

Nothing is connected, all I'm doing is running 'iTunes'.

Windows 10, null

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. When reinstalling right-click on the installer and use run as administrator. It may also help to temporarily disable any non-Microsoft anti-virus.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

EXACT same issue. Last week, I spent 2+ hours on with iTunes senior tech advisors with this crash issue and a few days ago another 4+ hours with a devastating playlist issue. I have a huge music and movie collection on a separate 8TB HDD. Crashes [almost] every time I try to access the store in iTunes. Super frustrating beyond beyond. Apparently, there were some major changes with 12.8. I was told that to prevent piracy, some major changes happened with 12.8 for those who use separate HDDs. Hasn't been confirmed though.

With the crashing, iTunes became ridiculously unstable--- I had to manually rebuild ALL of my playlists- every time I opened up iTunes, the playlists would show up and then in a matter of minutes, the songs would delete leaving behind the playlists, but empty. Then iTunes would just freeze and crash.

I have never ever, in about 10 years, had such a serious continually crashing issues with this 12.8 build.

My files are stable, the program just keeps crashing and I get the exact same errors. I run a Dell XPS8500 i7, Windows 7, 16GB RAM.

I am going to be calling back soon to try to resolve the continued crashing situation.

ALSO- when I am able to get into the store, I've noticed that a ton of music files keep hiding themselves. I go in, unhide some- then they re-hide themselves. Doesn't happen to any other media.

I'm pretty tired of this. I have over 500 movies and 18,000 music files. Apple better get on this.

Just wanted you to know you and your issue are not alone. If I get any info, I'll pass it along here.

Removing software and then adding it back again really isn't that difficult. If your current version of iTunes is hosed then it is quite possible that installing the next version over the top won't fix things. See the second box of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for advice. In summary it is remove Apple software components in a particular order, reboot, and reinstall. All the other information is there to cover rare problems that could potentially crop up along the way and give you a solution there and then rather than you needing to come back here and ask, and wait for me or someone else to supply an answer.

Great news! After weeks of torture- It’s fixed... I have full access to the iTunes Store previous purchase and it’s not crashing.... at all...

12.7.3.46 totally worked! Took me 7 plus hours. Had to uninstall 12.8, reinstalled 12.7. Couldn’t use old library list, so had to re-build my library. Deleted my iCloud library. Changed my path location to L Drive (it’s a separate 8TB HDD). Then added folders back for music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, books and audiobooks. I have a pretty big library (12K+ songs and over 500 movies). Because I deleted my iCloud library first and added folders from my external HDD, no duplicates came up. Phew!

Went into the store- unhid all purchases. Then in the store downloaded any remaining media not in my library!

Running super smooth- thank you all!
