Unable to enable FileVault on 10.13.6
It appears I am having the exact same issue as described by user 0u0u0 in Re: Could not turn on FileVault on 10.13
I tried to follow the steps in this support article https://support.apple.com/kb/PH25731?locale=en_US per that thread, but came up with the exact same error message that ends with First Aid erroring out.
For data points, this drive was encrypted with FileVault, but had an unlock password not in sync with my user. I decrypted this drive, but now cannot encrypt it again. There are no problems with the device's operation - smooth and fine, no errors other than when I try to re-enable FileVault.
Ultimately, I found this issue because I'm unable to simply do a "sudo fdesetup enable" from Terminal. Attempting that gives a different, perhaps related error:
Error: A problem occurred while trying to enable FileVault. (-69550)
I can't believe the answer is to reformat and restart, but is that where I am right now with the product?
