I have an id but not a device. How do I verify my child's app purchases?

I've just purchased my son an iPad and set up a family sharing account but when he goes to buy an app it requests me to verify it, which is what I wanted. The problem being, I no longer have an apple device (gasp!) And don't know how i am supposed to verify his request. It says it's sending it to me? My daughter's iPhone allows me to key in my password to verify her requests but this option doesn't seem to be on offer. My son is losing patience with me now!!!

No. My kids are the only ones with apple products now. It seems a touch odd that I would need to also own an apple product to interact with them.

Am I missing something here or am I being held to ransom?

I do not have the phone that i set up the original family sharing on as I dropped it and decided to go back to android. My other child's phone I can verify purchases directly on it. I set up my other child's id on the new iPad but it won't offer me the chance to verify on it as the phones does.

Is it sending the request to the device that you used to set up Family Sharing? If you log into iCloud on that device, do you have a chance to approve his purchases?
