Is there something wrong with IOS 11.4.1, IPhone X and WiFi?

Since installing 11.4.1, my iphone X drops WiFi constantly. My network speed is a constant 40-50 megabits per second and all other older devices work fine. I have reset my router, checked for updates with the router, factory reset the phone, toggled WiFi.....all the tricks. It doesn’t work. I ran out of data on my phone 14 days into the month. That was a first. Please update this software and fix it.

iPhone 4, IOS 4.3.4

If you have two different devices, one for business and one for personal and you need the data to be separate and you don't trust your comfort with using the settings that will keep various kinds of data from syncing, I'd recommend using a different Apple ID for each one. You can always use Family Sharing if you want to share apps or content you've purchased.

If you use iTunes for syncing, it treats each device individually, even if they are sharing an Apple ID. iTunes no longer has anything to do with app management.

Nor do I. It is some program that is added in the initial setup to track you fitness. Logging in Game Center is not an issue if you have never done so. However, the older iCloud emails and ID's logged us into everything. Now they are corrupted with this and we cannot purge this information or we loose our original purchases. As for one for business and one for personal. Once you identify with two iClouds it becomes and alias and still merges data when you are forced to log in to and out of just to update expensive professional programs you purchased years ago. It is all good in theory but it simply does not work unless you start with two NEW iClouds and re-purchase all your apps. I understand that iTunes has changed but the only reason I would log into iTunes is to restore my phone to it's original settings. I do not use iTunes on my work computer for any reason. I realize this is more information that should be sent to apple as a suggestion but I hope someone figures out how to block the override controls apple has on our devises. It is a miserable existence having to spend so much time fighting apples boilerplate settings. All in the name of security -- no thank you!

While you obviously have a problem, it's almost certain it's not what you think it is. You can't merge two AppleIDs. If you have two, one does not become an alias for another and the data is not merged between the two. It's just not possible. You also can't be logged into two Apple IDs on one phone at the same time.

Yes, all applications are always tied to the Apple ID under which they were purchased. That's why I'm recommending Family sharing. You can link two Apple IDs via family sharing to share purchases.

You can't merge Apple IDs. You can change the email address the serves as the Apple ID. I've done it at least once, from an earthlink.net address to my current email address.

The screen shot you posted shows your Apple ID, the hotmail address, and then, under "Reachable at" two additional addresses associated with your Apple ID. In my account, I also see my mobile number. But, it indicates exactly what I said above, that you've had the same Apple ID and the the email address used as the user name has been changed. You can't delete the icloud.com address.

Apple didn't "merge" your @me.com with an icloud.com address. They changed it. Then you then changed the email address to a hotmail.com address

Even more in 2014 I made apple IDs for every device I owned, what a nightmare that was. I quickly learned this was definitely not the way to go.

Yes, that would have been a huge mistake.

There is no reason why we should not be allowed to control the data that is retained on our Apple ID. The only logical explanation is that Apple refuses to allow us to utilize the equipment and our personal data in the manor in which we choose to manage.

No, there isn't any reason. And, in fact, you can control what data is retained in your Apple ID. I find it easiest to manage by logging into icloud.com on a computer. You can go through the contacts that are saved to your Apple ID and prune them. Personally, I don't sync contacts to iCloud. I have them synced only to me email (which is not an icloud.com address). But, that's just my preference.

I understand that you're very frustrated. But, on reading all of your posts, it seems to be a question of learning how to use the tools Apple provides. I get that it can be very difficult to do that when you're already angry at the way things work.

I'd say there's an issue with some WiFi on 11.4.1 based on two my devices and three others (mine are ipad air 2 and an iPhone 6, just updated). I use two Netgear routers (about four years between their ages) and both my devices drop connection to both routers on a timescale of minutes. I swap routers to recover, but that is still painful. An old iPhone 5 using iOS 10 is fine with the same routers, as are many other devices. There may be subtle problems because, with three other Apple device users using the same routers: iPhone 7 - no complaints; two other iPhone 6s, one on iOS 11.3 (not certain) - no complaints, one on 11.4.1 - many complaints of drop outs.

On the other hand, I have an iPhone and two iPads, all updated to 11.4.1. I have no problems. There are four other iPhones in my house and no one else has a problem, either. And that, in a nutshell, is why you have to do the troubleshooting. Given the very few posts about WiFi issues with iOS 11.4.1, it's unlikely that it is the problem. You can wait for another release but, there is a high likelihood it won't solve your problem.
