upgrade DRM?

I bought an iPhone X and, with iOS 11, lost the ringtones I had created from some music I bought. I tried finding them in the folder, dragging and dropping them in, importing, etc. Doesn't work. I think they're too long. So I tried to edit them down, but they're old iTunes purchases and still under DRM. All of the methods a Google search produced to upgrade to non-protected files seem to be defunct.

Anyone know if there's a way I can upgrade these songs to remove the protections?

Thanks

iPhone X, iOS 11.4

The policy where you could pay an upgrade charge on a per tune basis was discontinued in 2012 and you can only upgrade DRM music (subject to current availability) by subscribing to iTunes Match. If you only have one or two tracks you have to decide if it is worth the money and instead just re-purchase the non-DRM version. If you encounter problems doing that then:
