When someone sends a photo can you save it in your photos as taken today?

This is a little hard to word but - when someone sends a photo in messages, and you save it, it automatically goes to the date when the person took it. For example, if someone takes a photo in January and texts it to me today, and I save it to my photos, I have to go to January in my photos to see it. I sort of understand the reason for that, like if they’re sending photos from a trip we went on in the past, but is there an option to move it to as if it was taken today? My sister sent me a picture of something she found when she was home months ago, and I want to be able to save it and not have to scroll up to find it in my photos.
