iPhone 7 crackling or no sound during phone calls

My iphone 7 has just started to crackle if I answer a call or I can’t hear the person on the other end. The speaker and FaceTime options for the calls are greyed out too. I have checked my sound and it’s all ok, but have noticed I can’t record a voice memo either. Would greatly appreciate any advice. I am on IOS 11.4.1 and have restarted my phone a number of times with no change.

Hello Sessiw

I suggest you try the following:

Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings
Secondly you can try to How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support and then Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
If the above also fails then I suggest you contact Official Apple Support or make a Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple and ask them to do a Hardware Test to check it out and show it to them.

Hi Asher I just wanted to thank you for your advice and give you an update. I followed the steps you suggested with no success. My phone has been sent to Apple to get fixed - they believe it's a hardware issue. Thanks again 🙂
