Solved, I think. Reset VRAM with Apple Support and then updated to Mojave 10.14.1. Hasn't happened since.

I've had this issue too and I've found a pretty quirky fix by way of plugging in and then unplugging headphones, anyone know why this works? Also using Ableton and this is the quickest way to keep the workflow going until something can be done.

Yes I have exactly the same issue, using Ableton Live on a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 - I'm on my second machine after swapping the first one for the same reason. So clearly it wasn't a faulty machine.

After 45-50 minutes of audio playback the audio glitches and skips. Interestingly, the audio playback will lag behind the waveform (or vice versa, I cannot quite remember which) after the glitch occurs. My workaround is to unplug and plug headphones back in.

I'm still using High Sierra 10.13.6. I wonder if Mojave will fix the issue?

I have the same. Agree, it is annoying. I found that it happens ~40min of listening any audio (even speaking in Skype)Solution - quit from the audio app and open again.

Can anyone with this issue run and post an etrecheck report? It might help to see what is eating up the resources.

Bought the new MacBook Pro 2018 model. And started having the same issues, audio glitches and stutter while using VLC / Quicktime / Premiere Pro. The issue seems to pop-up roughly 50min in.

Spoke to a technician who made me jump through the PRAM & SMC resets, and a few other checks.
After confirming the issue occurs without fail every time. I went to the iStore to exchange it.

New notebook seemed to work perfectly for a while, after I was done reinstalling Logic Pro X from the App Store - it started happing again. I am wondering if Logic is the issue... could anyone confirm they have the issue but do not have logic installed?

I am suspecting Logic might be installing and incompatible driver or something.

Macbook Pro 2018 Audio Glitch

Same issue this side, brand new out of the box. The issue doesn't seem to have any obvious pattern, happens during playback in VLC and Premiere Pro.

Only work-a-round is closing and restarting everything.

Likewise. Stuttering starts after about 10 to 30 mins after a restart. Using After Effects / Premiere / Audition, watching youtube, listening to itunes - all seem to trigger it after a while.

I just bought a new 15" macbook pro w 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, did all the updates, and I'm still having this issue come up.

It's very frustrating when my fancy new computer is running worse than the 2010 model I was upgrading from

I have a brand new Mac Mini and experience the same skipping audio. Doesn't matter if I am on iTunes, Spotify, Youtube. Would love to know if there is a fix since I am a full time musician. I find this characteristic very annoying.
