Just recently I've noticed that Safari will show a page or so of FB "stories" and have a "More Stories" button at the bottom (referring to www.facebook.com/#) which of course gets nowhere.
Both Chrome and Firefox don't show this button and just add new stories as I scroll.
Any ideas

Solved... Since you gave me the idea of the adblocker, I completely uninstalled and then re-installed it and all works well. This solved the problem on 2 machines. Thanks for the tip. I appreciate your efforts.

Do you have the Dashlane or Adblock extension installed? If so, try disabling them.

1) Yes, paused as in disabled, and I did restart Safari. No luck.
2) A brand new test admin account worked fine.
3) Safe mode with Adblock disabled: Safari STILL had the More Stories button.
4) Another Mac set up similarly also has the same problem with Safari.
5) Here's the Etrecheck results, note that I do not back-up this machine as all data is stored either on Dropbox or another networked drive that is backed up (twice).

If you are interested in improving overall perforamnce:
Sophos could be dragging your performance down to the "Below Average" rating. So could App Cleaner. All anti-virus and so-called "cleaning" apps will take a noticeable bite out of Mac performance, largely because they compete with the Mac OS's buit-in protection.
You are close to setting a record for items in "User Login Items." Do you really need all that stuff to launch every time you start your computer?
Eric, do I really want to not have an anti-virus program?
I understand very few virus (etc) programs target Mac, but it has found many windows trojans in spam in an account I have on Outlook. (Interestingly enough the McAfee on the PC I also access the Outlook email on doesn't ever report the trojan... unless Sophos is known for false positives...)
I'd also hate to be the recipient of one of the rare Mac attacks. Now if you know of a better, less intrusive (for I'm sure anti-virus does give me a performance hit) anti-virus for Mac I'd love to investigate it.

I tested this several years ago and at the time it seemed less intrusive than most other anti-virus programs.
Paused as in disabled? Did you quit and reopen Safari after disabling AdBlock?
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.
