something adding extra midi notes

Hi all,

I've seen various forms of this issue before, and have tried each of the solutions, but with no luck so far.

I'm using Logic Pro X (10.4.1) on a 2017 MacBook Pro (High Sierra 10.13.6), with an old Ensoniq SQ2 keyboard using MIDI-to-USB input. Logic is reading the midi signal, which lets me play and record, but something in the chain adds extra MIDI notes any time I play more than one note at once on the keyboard (hold a C and a G, Logic adds an extra G when I release the keys.) This makes slurring notes impossible without Logic adding extra unwanted MIDI notes, and is getting really frustrating- any thoughts?

Two possible answers:

What are you using for a USB MIDI interface, if it looks like this... then that's the problem.

The other possibility is Logic decided to try and match a control surface to your setup.

Go to the upper left Logic Pro menu, select Control Surfaces select Bypass All Control Surfaces.

It might relate to the hardware (computer) and the operating system being used rather than the external MIDI controllers.

Or a combination of both. Is your home system an older computer?

Anyway, that cheap interface is known to have problems.

Well shoot- that's exactly what I'm using. When I use it in my home setup though (different MIDI controller, it's an upright digital Roland) I never have any issues... do I just need a newer controller plugged in at the other end? This Ensoniq thing is probably old enough to vote.
