Keyboard and touchpad after restart from windows to macOS not working

Hi.

Just got my mac pro 2018 and one of the first things I did was installing windows 10 on this machine for work purposes. Everything was working fine until I tried to restart from windows to macOS. After the restart I am stuck at the login screen with non working keyboard and touchpad. It only occurs when I switch it from windows to macOS. After I force shut down my laptop and switch it on again, then everything works perfectly again.

Was wondering if you guys have any clue what could cause this problem. Or maybe I just miss something.

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

It seems that disabling FileVault fixes the problem. Is it possible to get explanation why is it acting so?

You have the 2018 MBP which has the new T2 chipset. As a test, enable FileVault, but lower the security setting mentioned in About Secure Boot - Apple Support and test.

See Mac computers that have the Apple T2 chip - Apple Support . The drivers that control the peripherals (keyboard and mouse) are no being loaded, till you log in successfully. Do you have any pending software updates on your Mac?

I've connected external mouse(apple mouse on bluetooth) and after restart it worked. It seems that only internal devices are not working after switching OS. I've tried to press restart button on login screen and after restart the internal devices still didn't respond. Only after I clicked on shutdown button(login screen) and then switched it on, the internal devices started working again.

I’m experiencing the exact same problem. I have a 2018 MacBook Pro 15” with FileVault enabled, and a new boot camp partition with windows 10 Pro installed. Whenever I “soft” restart to switch from Windows into MacOS the keyboard and touchpad are frozen on the main MacOS login screen.

This question is marked "Solved". Disabling FileVault on machines with T2 chip cannot the solution, can it? I thought one of the main reasons to have this T2 is to improve the security and performance of FileVault??

It is, because there is a bug that does not allow external peripherals to connect since the FV on T2 does not allow the Apple BT KEXTs to be loaded, even if you are not yet logged in. If you logged out of your Mac, should you BT devices stop working? In case of a 'cold' start, with FV2 enabled, BT works, so why does it not work properly after a 'warm' restart?

Apple needs to fix it.

No. T2 adds a lot more functions, than just improved support for FV2. See Mac computers that have the Apple T2 chip - Apple Support .
