How to store a photo in Photos in a year not being the embedded photo capture year

I today scanned many old photos from my youth. I wish to store those photos in Photos however not with the actual embedded capture date and year (2018) of the photo as scanned today (the creation date), but in a to be chosen year (say 1970) in Photos reflecting the true year of my youth photo. In order to organise the photos in chronological order in Photos.


How can I do this ? How can I manipulate this ? How can I organise Photos in a chronological sequence and thus disregarding the exif tag as set by the camera (or scanner).

You can use the command "Image > Adjust Date & Time" to set the date to the date the photo has been actually taken.

I have been doing this for all old scans of family photos. See this help page: Add titles, descriptions, and more to photos using Photos on Mac - Apple Support

(scroll down to the paragraph "Adjust a photo's date and time).


Photos allows you to set the date back by more than thousand years. So if you scan an old painting of one of your ancestors, you can set the date back to the time the painting has been created.


If you want to set several photos to the same date from a long time ago, you could use a script.

: Script: Batch Change the Date and Time to a Fixed Date


I am using the script above, if I arranged several older photos in an album in the sequence they have been taken, but want the date and time to be set to the same day, with an increment of one minute between successive photos. This way the photos can be sorted by the date and time and will keep the order.
