Iphone 7 Stuck with AT&T Forever?

Model NN9D2LL/A, Carrier AT&T 32.0.1. Phone is paid in full and unlocked. I want to switch carriers but other carriers cannot access the phone due to GSM vs CMDA networks. Is there a solution or is this phone forever stuck with AT&T?

T-Mobile can work with that model iPhone 7. Also any MVNO that uses AT&T‘s or T-Mobile’s network will work with that device.

Its only Verizon, Sprint and US cellular and any MVNO’s using their networks that cannot connect that device to their networks.

In the US Sprint and Verizon have legacy CDMA networks, so an AT&T phone will not work on them. This is a hardware difference and has nothing to do with SIM unlock. An unlocked phone will work on almost all networks worldwide, as these two carriers are among the last holdouts in the world still partly on CDMA (they are about 90% GSM, but a phone has to work on all of their network, not just 90% of it). The good news is that both of them are retiring their CDMA networks, but they will still be around for a while. Which, of course, doesn't help you right now.
