How do I change save options (from browser on iPad)

  • Using Chrome browser on iPad;
  • I click on link to open a pdf (could be any document though);
  • I then click on the icon on the top right to save oe send document;
  • Saving to iCloud Drive is not an option;
  • How can I make this an option?

Thank You for quick response. Unfortunately, I must not have asked the question well as the answer indicates my question was not understood.

I used Chrome as an example, but the same issue did arise when I went to the same site using Apple’s Safari browse. There was not an option there either to save the file to iCloud Drive. Dropbox, yes, iCloud, no.

When using any browser on my iPad, I should be able to download a document to the iCloud Drive. If that option is not there, what can be done?

I give up. Nobody understands the issue here.

I should be able to use ICloud Drive for storing documents just like Google Drive, or MS OneDrive, or DropBox. In fact, the link above says it can be used like Dropbox. So if I get to a document from either Chrome, or Safari, and the iPad and wish to save it, iCloud Drive isn’t an option (Dropbox is). I just want the browser to give me that option.

As an example, on your iPad go to the IRS.gov (using either Chrome or Safari) website and find a PDF form. Figure out how to save it to iCloud Drive (or Google Drive, or OneDrive). If those aren’t in the browser as an option, how can they be added?

So are you suggesting I download the document to Dropbox (an option that Chrome and Safari does provide) and then move it to iCloud Drive? If that is the best option, then why even use iCloud Drive at all?

If the browser I use on the iPad (either Chrome or Safari) doesn’t let me download to ICloud Drive the it really not an efficient place to store documents.

I did scroll to the right. There isn't an option to Save to Files there. Is there something in settings I can do to make that available?

If there is not a "Save to Files" item in the bottom strip (all monochrome icons) in the Share menu, scroll to the right end of that strip to enable it. You can access iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, local "On My iPad" storage, and probably Google Drive through Files, depending on which you have installed and enabled.
