out of the box macboo air will not get past the country choice, i have Canada hilited in blue, but cannot go past that...

If it won't boot past the Country screen it's of no use to you, return it.

Shut it down and restart it and see if works after restart. If it is new then you have 14 days to return it for a full refund.
So, basically if it doesn't boot up properly the first time (or 5th...) it' done ? On to the refurbish plant...
