I'm trying to share an imovie to file, and I keep getting this message: "This item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera." The movie came from a disc which is still plugged in.

Apparently, the download did not successfully complete. Try reimporting to your desktop using the Image Capture app on your Mac. When the import is complete, remove the SD card. Then drag the movie into iMovie.

Try opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to access your products.

If that doesn't solve it, try doing an Edit/Select All, Edit/Copy of the media in your project, and then Edit/Paste it into a newly created project. See if you can share from the new project.

You also can try importing into the Photos app, and then accessing the vids from within iMovie by clicking on the Photos Library item in the iMovie media sidebar. Then see if you can share.

Also, check this link to see if your camera is supported by iMovie.
