This entire post is very interesting and this response in particular.
I have a MacBook pro 13" 2016, and I had very occasional freezes sometimes, in connection with Microsoft Office products.
However, since I upgraded to Mojave (now on 10.14.2) I have these very strange freezes (so seems the opposite experience to the post that I am replying to), with the beachball coming up and then it freezes from its spin. Now I cannot communicate with the Mac at all, sometimes for 20 or 30 sec, sometimes for 1 minute, and then it wakes up again and works until I experience the next freeze. I have woken it up in the past with a hard reboot because I got impatient (probably not necessary either in these cases??). It appears to happen absolutely random, in the middle of working with Safari, MS Office, Apple Mail, you name it. Before I searched today and found this post, the freeze just occurred upon waking up the Mac from Sleep. I opened Console and pasted the first page of errors into a Word file. No clue what they mean and whether they are relevant. If any body wants to look, I am happy to share.
