macbook pro 13" 2018 random freeze

I got my 2018 macbook pro 13" three weeks ago. The computer freeze at least twice. It requires hard reboot. Where should I start to look for fault? The system isn't under heavy load nor was it hot.

Yes, I’ve purchased the 13 inch MacBook Pro 2018 with touchbar. It’s completely frozen 3 times, every time requires a full shut down. This laptop is way too overpriced for me to be having these problems. This might be the last Mac I ever buy. Let’s just hope this doesn’t happen again. After all these reviews, there’s no question that it’s a problem on Apple’s end.

Apple. ***?

I'm on the middle of zoom calls and my $3.200 macbook pro randomly freezes and shuts down? I had to change the first MPB I had bought because not only it was showing glitches at the boot up, other performance-related issues were going on... the "e" key always gets stuck on my keyboard and the battery doesn't last half of advertised doing common tasks.

I am very frustrated with your products and it saddens me more that there doesn't seem to be any good alternatives out there to this overpriced pieces that you're putting out.

That’s exactly the same experience I had and when I returned the second one, they were rather unconcerned about it. I took that as an indication that Apple doesn’t know how to fix it yet. I am now working on my slow, underpowered 2015 MacBook, but at least it does not freeze. I don’t know how Apple has kept this quiet. If you dig into reviews there were some early reports of the problem, but nothing recent.

this freezes happens to me all the time since I bought the 2018 MacBook Pro 13 inch in July. Now, I updated to 10.14.2 a while ago. Today just reading PDFs the computer freezes EVERY SINGLE TIME I click ANYTHING. EVERY SINGLE TIME! I have been using Mac for 8 years! MacBook Air 2011, macbook 12-inch 2015, been compiling JAVA never had any issue! now I bought the most expensive machine I have ever gotten from Apple and this happens?! Haven’t even done the heavy lifting yet! So frustrated!! Please please fix it!!!!!!! I don’t want this to be the last machine I ever own from Apple

This entire post is very interesting and this response in particular.

I have a MacBook pro 13" 2016, and I had very occasional freezes sometimes, in connection with Microsoft Office products.

However, since I upgraded to Mojave (now on 10.14.2) I have these very strange freezes (so seems the opposite experience to the post that I am replying to), with the beachball coming up and then it freezes from its spin. Now I cannot communicate with the Mac at all, sometimes for 20 or 30 sec, sometimes for 1 minute, and then it wakes up again and works until I experience the next freeze. I have woken it up in the past with a hard reboot because I got impatient (probably not necessary either in these cases??). It appears to happen absolutely random, in the middle of working with Safari, MS Office, Apple Mail, you name it. Before I searched today and found this post, the freeze just occurred upon waking up the Mac from Sleep. I opened Console and pasted the first page of errors into a Word file. No clue what they mean and whether they are relevant. If any body wants to look, I am happy to share.

Add me to the list! I have a 15in MacBook Pro, and it locks up ever week or so. I won't even unlock on a re boot. I just have to leave it for an hour or so and it comes back to life. When it locks, nothing at all will click/select. And I have nothing running out of the ordinary, just standard Apple apps plus Microsoft word etc. I've been into store with it once and recommended that I take a video of what its doing. The first suspicion was that it could be the Sophos virus scan that I had installed, so that was removed. This is the third Mac I've had and I've had no problems with the last ones.

I so hate this rant. Its been 3 weeks I got a brand new 2018 MacBook Pro 13" with 2.3Ghz/8GB/512SSD. After the first week, I've been experiencing random freezes happening with almost any app - like Chrome, Terminal, Visual Studio Code, iTunes, Spotify etc...you name it. To add to my list of woes, this freeze happens at least 4-5 times a day while I am working.

I am literally tired of this nonsense, Apple. Are you gonna do something about it? Your reputation is thinning.

Add me to this issue!

I have had the same problem with freeze and restart for no reasons since novembre 2018. They changed my MacBook pro 13 2018 twice and the computer still freeze and restart specially when it's sleeping and waking up.

I went to the apple store and they are trying to fix it again. This is really stressful for a 2500€ computer!
