macbook pro 13" 2018 random freeze

I got my 2018 macbook pro 13" three weeks ago. The computer freeze at least twice. It requires hard reboot. Where should I start to look for fault? The system isn't under heavy load nor was it hot.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, 4 TBT3), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

I'm having the exact same problem on my 2018 13" Macbook Pro. I've had it just three weeks and it's frozen four times. I restarted the device in Safe Mode two days ago and back in normal mode today and it froze again.

Apps running at the time: Mail, Safari, Chrome, Grammarly, Calendar, Messages, Slack, and Amazon Music.

Although it is worth trying the Mojave beta to see if this particular issue has been fixed, it may probably also introduce other potential risks to my production machine. But I do think Apple shall give feedbacks if this bug has been found and will be fixed in the next release. Being silent for a long time is probably not a good idea, or they have already "officially" responded somewhere?

I updated almost a week ago to Mohave. I have not had ANY freezes since then. I did have to tweak my scanner which is still only supporting high Sierra. In talking with my Tech person I then mentioned the random cursor movement when I wrote e-mails. she had me bring it in to the store and they reset the PRAM.... not difficult to do and it seems to have helped that problem also.

i am finally beginning to enjoy my computer.... i know some people updated to Mohave and may still have problems.... but it seems to have cured the kernel problem that was causing many of the freezes. If you have not updated, go for it.... and please let this list know if it works!

Hi guys, I went to the Apple Store in Amsterdam today and explained everything, including someone here saying that the crash log said something about Bridge OS. The guy at the Genius Bar was really helpful and thought maybe the T2 chip (which runs on Bridge OS) could be wrongly configured in the factory.

Anyhow, they took my laptop in and had them send me the videos of the MBP crashing. They’re gonna run tests on it for now

add me to the list as well. I got my MacBook at the very end of august and it froze like 4/5 times until now.. I updated to Mojave like 2 weeks ago and I thought that fixed it, until it crashed again yesterday.. I'm also in Amsterdam and I thought of bringing it there and requesting a new one but apparently that won't even help if everyone's having that problem 🙃

Same here. I recently bought my MacBook Pro 2018 13'' with Touch Bar in August and since then my MacBook can't stop having random freezes when I'm doing my work and it's annoying me. My MacBook had already freezes for about 7-8 times since I first bought it till now. I was wondering if Apple is working on a new update for MBP 2018 models but why are they keeping quiet and not saying anything regarding this issue?? I seriously regretted buying this MBP 2018 and should've just continue using my MacBook Air 2015 model since it works better than MBP 2018. and doesn't have any random freezes. I seriously hope Apple will find a solution regarding this issue as soon as possible.

I've experienced the same problem, my 15 inch MPB froze twice yesterday. I was simply browsing on Chrome and listening to music on iTunes. Many people in this thread mentioned their use of Chrome, could this be a chrome compatibility problem? I've been using safari today, and no issue so far. It's quite scary as this laptop is my daily driver. Don't trust Apple that much now.

Hi all,

same issue here. MBP 2018 13" touchbar, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB HD.

Bought at the end of July, today I've experienced my first total hang (everything was unresponsive) and the subsequent restart.

Not good, at all. This is an expensive piece of hardware and since I use it for business reasons... I'm a little bit worried.

Is Apple doing something about that or not?

Make sure you upgrade to Mojave.... I have not had a freeze since I upgraded.... going on 12 days.... and previously I was freezing numerous times per day. Also running the Pro 13".... with 2T hard drive and upgraded Ram

Good luck!

If you or anyone else is still freezing after upgrade, call Apple and ask for upgraded tech support.... keep demanding it...Apple has got to know how to figure out to fix all this!

Yes, good tip. I will upgrade ASAP.

Looking at the panic log it seems it could be something related to the T2 live I've read in other post/sites:

{"caused_by":"macos","macos_system_state":"running","bug_type":"210","os_version ":"Bridge OS 2.4.1 (15P6805)","timestamp":"2018-10-10 19:48:42.36 +0000","incident_id":"B4B4369C-10CC-4C98-825E-42A35E274C1F"}

{

"build" : "Bridge OS 2.4.1 (15P6805)",

"product" : "iBridge2,4",

"kernel" : "Darwin Kernel Version 17.7.0: Fri Jul 6 19:25:51 PDT 2018; root:xnu-4570.71.3~1\/RELEASE_ARM64_T8010",

Anyway, whether it's something related to hardware or software, it's a little bit disappointing that there is no official statement (to say nothing of an official solution) about a huge problem impacting the flagship machine.

The majority of us choose this box for work so the damage is double in this case.

Trust me, after many years this is the first time I feel a little distrusted.
