macbook pro 13" 2018 random freeze

I got my 2018 macbook pro 13" three weeks ago. The computer freeze at least twice. It requires hard reboot. Where should I start to look for fault? The system isn't under heavy load nor was it hot.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, 4 TBT3), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

Hi!

What version of macOS are you running? There were 2 supplemental updates released, specifically for 2018 MacBook Pros. The 2nd supplemental update helped my 15" 2018 MBP a ton.

You can check by opening System Preferences, then Software Update. Make sure there are no updates available.

Hope this helps,
Richard

Got a MBP 2018, 2.7 i7, 16GB ram for 4 weeks now and got exactly the same issue. In the past 2 weeks it froze at least once a day.

This is unacceptable for a machine that has cost me a lot of money. There is no heavy load at all and i just freezes out of nowhere.

I surely hope that this is a software issue and not hardware related. With al the current problems on this thread I expect that there will be a solution soon!

Doesn’t it seem strange to everyone here that with all of us reporting the same problems, we do not hear from anyone at a higher level at Apple.

i think they are totally ignoring us or are struggling to find a solution.... either choice is not good! BTW... I am also having a problem even signing into this list.... it is asking me for two party authentication even when I choose “trust this device”. According the Apple, on the same device, you should only be asked once.

I agree that the more we write about whites happening may help the Apple techs that are working on the problem. but I am very disappointed that it is taking so long. i have spent hours on the phone with high level support and so far they have not helped and I still have problems. Now it seems to reboot every time I stop using for a f3ew hours.... doesn't matter whether I specifically put it to sleep or just leave it with cover open or closed. It happens during mail, safari surfing and lightroom. My Adobe CC is usually not running when it happens.

Today my friend sent me an article about MBP2018 freezing. I had hoped that this issue would never happen to me. But alas, it did. My machine is only 3 days old. All I did is sent a video from youtube to dashboard just to test it, because I found it interesting. And soon after that I got my first freeze. I really hope this is only a software issue. It would be really disappointing if it turned out that, my first MacBook that I bought, couldn't be fixed with a software update 😟. Godspeed Apple on your quest to find what causes this issue.

New symptom: opened my lid while on battery, the screen flickers intermittently - i can move the mouse and click the reset button which fixes the issue. No error report this time.

So for me this makes it 3 types of errors:

- freezing completely; solved by hard shutdown

- opening lid to a grayish/blueish garbled screen where only the mouse can be moved, as a large square blob; solved by shutdown

- opening the lid to intermittent screen flickering; solved by reset.

This is getting better and better with my 3000 Euros machine 🙂

Funny thing is, my old 2013 MBA works better!
