macbook pro 13" 2018 random freeze

I got my 2018 macbook pro 13" three weeks ago. The computer freeze at least twice. It requires hard reboot. Where should I start to look for fault? The system isn't under heavy load nor was it hot.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, 4 TBT3), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

Sometimes these Guys from the Support are really weird... they ALWAYS want you to do both the smc and pram reset... I reported an older macbook due to both the command-key and the option key did not work properly, and my Support-Person actually told me to do a smc-reset and pram-reset 😀 I needed to tell the Person TWICE that this will not work, as both keys are not working xD I don't know about these guys sometimes... Better google it, these guys are not actually helping you, they just try to make you feel all right

Hi Helen,

Yes, my battery seems to be draining faster then it should, considering that i'm not running intensive processes (some tabs in safari/chrome and that's it). I never seem to be getting more that 5-6 hours, which is less then i did on my lesser MBA 2013, and definetly less than advertised for this very expensive machine!

Not happy with my purchase so far, worst of my 4 macbooks to date... waiting on the mojave news from the others, to see if it fixes anything.

Hey Helen, I have Parallels, but I wasn't running it at all when the crashes happened. I was only browsing the web on Firefox. I doubt that this is the issue. I personally believe that Apple messed up the entire structure/build of this model. I also got 16 GB of ram, the latest most expensive processor with 512 SSD. This is supposed to handle gaming, and suddenly it can't handle Parallels? I don't buy their excuse.

Hi there!

I personally think battery draining issue has to have something to do with the new OS, possibly some sort of bugs which in my personal experience normally Apple fixes then by providing patches and update in future. I have the same issue on two Macbook Pro with Retina display Mid 2014 and started encountering the issue as soon as I upgraded to macOS Mojave...

Hi guys.

I'll be going to the Genius Bar in Amsterdam this Saturday to have them look at my laptop. Even after updating to Mojave I'm still experiencing said freezes.

Moreover, I have the double key problem (when I want to type "t", "tt" appears). Apple has a repair program for this problem with the butterfly keyboards, but it is up until the 2017 MBP. It should've been fixed in the 2018 MBP but I still have the same issue. Gonna be a fun day.

Keep y'all posted!

Yeah, thanks for the update! When I went to the store, they kept my

computer for 5 days just to factory reset it without even knowing what

caused the issue... And I used to think that Apple was different from the

others. (This is my first Mac ever, which I bought precisely because got

tired of such issues with Windows-powered laptops)

so why do these genii not announce it officially than? also: I had this issue several weeks ago and until today I did not have this issue anymore. I changed nothing. It just did not happen again, not matter if I do Netflix, youtube, safari, chrome etc. I am still running high Sierra (as I'm too afraid that some of my software just won't work in the new OS, any problems there maybe, anyone?)

Replying to my last response...

Another day, another crash. This time using Skype for business with a headset which the microphone would not connect. After going into both system preferences and skype preferences to check setting the system froze followed by a reboot.

I see this in the log almost every 5 seconds prior to reboot.

kcm[14776]: DEPRECATED USE in libdispatch client: Setting timer interval to 0 requests a 1ns timer, did you mean FOREVER (a one-shot timer)?; set a breakpoint on _dispatch_bug_deprecated to debug

argh!!! I really hope there is a fix because this is not reliable!

Although it is worth trying the Mojave beta to see if this particular issue has been fixed, it may probably also introduce other potential risks to my production machine. But I do think Apple shall give feedbacks if this bug has been found and will be fixed in the next release. Being silent for a long time is probably not a good idea, or they have already "officially" responded somewhere?
