Is there an ical calendar with US holidays that can be edited to the user's needs?

To which one of the many hundreds of religions that are practiced in the world that doesn't have holidays listed on Apple's U.S. Holiday calendar are you referring?

If you find one, I am interested. I only want the ones I follow, but don’t want to use an app and tranfer all my events to an app. I wonder why Apple could not provide the ability to customize.

The calendar does take into consideration traditional values, holidays and celebrations of faith based people of the 5 most widely practiced faiths in the US. Do you have a problem with that?

Take a look at the first page of this thread. Threre are several links to alternative calendar subscriptions that you can use. As has been explained multiple times, subscription calendars, by their nature cannot be edited.
