Removing the .plist worked! But I only backed-up contacts

Thanks so much for the post about having a corrupt .plist and how that might have been causing every new contact add to abort. It totally worked. I search for a solution for the past 6 months and found nothing. But I didn't read down far enough and I only backed up my contacts, not my whole computer before moving the plist and restarting the computer. If this happens again is that really risky not backing up the whole? Thank you!

You have backed up the All contacts , selecting them and exporting as v card , for a safer side .

Deleting the incorrect .plist for address book by entering in user library - from preferences folder is never to be done it might damage the system files .

If an application is corrupted , every time removing its plist may or may not work , you must correct knowledge of which .plist is to be removed and before performing the steps consult apple support .

Backing up computer is always recommend , if the Mac is corrupted you recover the data from time machine on external hard drive see this article How to use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support
