How to remove HP Printer Drivers

Hello

I have downloaded the Apple HP Printer Drivers 5.1 from here:

HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for OS X

This is a 1GB package when installed and I would like to reclaim that space as I no longer need that driver.

How does one remove this? There is nothing in applications related to HP or these drivers. I have also opened the original installer but there is no uninstall option.

I also looked at these but the only relevant information is about removing the printers, rather than the drivers:

How come apple has created an installer to install something that cannot be removed?

Thanks.

/Library/Printers/hp seems to be the 500MB+ beast that the installer left behind, but I am not sure what the consequences of removing this are, and if it leaves any corrupt configuration.

Does anyone know how the /Library/Printers folder works? Is it self-standing? Is that where the OS goes to enumerate drivers every time?

And why does Apple not provide an uninstaller?

system Preferences > Print and Scan and delete the printer. Then, open Finder, select Go > Go to Folder in menu bar, type /Library/Preferences/Printers and delete the files there

or

In Finder, click Go from the dropdown, then select in order

Computer

MacIntosh HD

Library

Preferences

(your printer listed as folder that you want to remove) MOVE TO TRASH

also if you know you're never going to use a certain manufacturer again, you can move it to trash by

Mac HD

Library

Printers

DELETE folder of printer mfg.
