I haven't used my Canopus ADVC 100 in about 5+ years but now I want to convert some more old VHS tapes. My issue is I don't have a Firewire port on my new Macbook. I did buy a converter from Amazon but it doesn't seem like it working now that I am going from the Firewire cable, converter from Firewire to USB, and another converter from USB to USB C. Suggestions? Thanks!
Yes my Macbook Pro has 4 Thunderbolt ports (2 on each side). Do you have part numbers or links for what I need? I think you are saying I need a Firewire cable, to Firewire converter to take it from 400 to 800, and then converter to go into Thunderbolt?
I use a Th/B to FW 800 adaptor from my Mac then a FW 800 to FW 400 cable to the ADCV. The Apple store has a variety of adaptors and cables but you may know of another supplier. There appears to be no part number, just a description.
It works, but I'm having a devil of a time capturing more than a few minutes. Tried Final Cut and the QT7 player. I have to keep shutting off and restarting the Canopus. Let me know if you have better luck!
Not sure if your MacBook Pro has Thunderbolt ports but I have an ADVC 110 into a TH/B port via TH/b Firewire adaptor on my iMac. Works perfectly.
What OS and iMovie version are you using?
High sierra. Imac pro. Fcp 10.4.x, qt7 player, lots of other utils
