4k usb-c monitors for 2017 mac mini

Need to replace my Thunderbolt Display and wish to upgrade to a 4K usb-c monitor for my 2017 Mac mini. For now and to be in position in case a 2018 Mac mini is released this fall.

What brands moditor, cable, dongle are you using? What’s the resolution it is displaying?

Any information will be helpful.

The Thunderbolt Display is going to die any day now.

.....for my 2017 Mac mini.

Note: The current Mac mini is called a Late 2014 Mac mini. The model name uses the date of introduction, not the date of your purchase.

The Thunderbolt ports on your Mac mini are also Mini-DisplayPort compatible. Look for a monitor with Mini-DisplayPorts and then just plug them in to your Mac mini's Thunderbolt ports. Note that Mini-DisplayPorts were designed for use on Computer monitors and that HDMI ports were designed for HDTVs.

Also note that your Mac mini does not have USB-C ports.

Are you sure the display is actually going to die? It could

very well be the built in cable.

Thought my TB Display was going belly up some time ago

and thought a cheap test would be to get a TB Cable and use

the TB daisy chain port as an input since the Thunderbolt interface

is supposedly pass through, and it worked! I have been

using my TB display for quite sometime now with that

configuration.

May be worth your while to spend a few bucks for the cable unless

you really want a new display.
