New to iPhone, I am not clear on this: when I turn on WiFi Assist, do I also physically turn ON cellular data, or will the WiFi Assist automatically access it while its switched off?

It will only use Wi-Fi assist only if you have Cellular ON.
Turn Wi-Fi Assist on or off: If Wi-Fi connectivity is poor, Wi-Fi Assist uses cellular data to boost the signal.
Note: Using data over a cellular network may incur additional fees.

My question is, for Wifi Assist to work (i/e when I turn ON the Wifi Assist switch in Cellular Data settings), do I also turn ON the Cellular Data switch itself in settings or will Wifi Assist simply access the cellular data without my switching that setting on?
