macbook pro virbrating (no earth ground)

My Daughter unwrapped her first Macbook Pro yesterday, very excited. When the Macbook is on charge with the supplied duck-head adapter the Macbook vibrates to touch. Very disappointed.

Reading around, the supplied UK 3 pin plug adapter does not have a ground/earth connection to the charger and the Macbook is giving 'small electric shocks' leaked from the charger.

I plugged in a corded plug adapter and the shocks stopped straight away, sure enough the corded plug adapter has a earth ground connection to the charger.

Why does Apple supply the duck-head adapter without a ground connection?

Is it possible to get a UK 3-pin duck-head adapter that has the ground connection in place?

Many thanks,

John

Absolutely agree with you Grant. Thankfully I had an old one from one of my previous Macbooks lying around. I feel a lot safer with her using that even though the cord is not exactly portable. What is annoying is what is the cost saving for not earthing the plug versus designing the plug correctly. I'm sure a lot of work and effort was put into the hardware of the Macbook only to be let down by a 5cm piece of wire.

We can't answer for Apple since we are just users like you. But maybe they assume your building wiring is correctly grounded.
