Which is best, HFS+ vs exFAT?

Hi, I have MacBook Pro with installed 2 OS-es macOS Sierra and Linux Ubuntu 17. I want to use part of my HDD as file storage. which is more easy and comfortable?


1) Format that partition into HFS+ and than manage the partition with HFSProgs in Linux and natively in mac


or


2) Format it in Microsoft-bassed exFAT which is "cross-platform" format, but not "native" for Mac?
